Symptom

When you connect and disconnect a USB 3.0 device from the USB 3.0 port, the PC may hang or freeze with a black or blank screen.

This issue is noticed on:

  • ChengMing 3980
  • Dell Vostro 3670
  • Dell Inspiron 3670

Solution

This issue is caused by the PCH xHCI driver entering the wrong state when connecting and disconnecting a USB 3.0 device from a USB 3.0 port of the PC. To recover your PC:

  1. Press and hold the power button down until the PC turns off
  2. Power on the PC
  3. Download and install the latest Chipset driver from Dell Drivers & Downloads website
  4. Restart the PC
