DW5820e WWAN card intermittently detected on Battery power with the Latitude 3510

Síntomas

DW5820e cellular card is intermittent on battery power in a Latitude 3510 laptop

 

Latitude 3510 laptop owners have reported that running with only the battery connected, the DW5820e WWAN (Wireless Wide Area Network) card is sometimes not detected. 

However, if you boot the system with the AC adapter connected the WWAN card works fine.

Note: Dell engineering has confirmed that this issue is only seen with BIOS 1.5.2 installed.

Dell's engineering have confirmed it was a power issue resolved by updating the BIOS.

Resolución

Updating to the latest BIOS version available for the computer will resolve the issue. To download and install the latest BIOS:

Warning: Dell recommends disconnecting any external devices like external hard disk drives, printers, scanners before updating the BIOS.
 
Warning: Dell laptops must have the battery installed and charged to at least 10% before you begin the BIOS update. Dell recommends connecting the laptop to AC power before proceeding with the update process.

  1. Browse to the Dell Drivers and downloads page:

  2. Select the Operating System.

  3. Under Category, select BIOS.

  4. Locate the latest Dell Latitude 3410 and 3510 System BIOS. (Version 1.6.0 or newer.)

  5. Click Download and save the file to your computer.

  6. Open File Explorer and browse to the location where the downloaded file is saved.

  7. Double-click the BIOS setup file and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation process.
