Intel RST on XPS 8500 (Raid or ACHI)?

So unfortunately dell tech support doesn't actually know much about RST in my experience and so I am going to ask here...

I had to reinstall my operating system because the one I got with my original computer was corrupted :( and I was told that my drive could be in ACHI mode. However, now I am reading on the Intel RST site that it needs to be in RAID mode in order to work and install the INTEL RST drivers?

I just want to make sure my 32gb cache is being used properly and also how to install intel RST. I am trying avoid doing much more with the computer in case i need to reinstall windows again but in Raid mode.

Can anyone help? Where can I get drivers if I need them?

Thanks,

Mattlab

Hi Mattlab,

RAID is the correct controller mode in order to use the cache SSD.

Ok thats what I thought grrr... so I do have a question now though... Does this mean all I have to do is set the Bios to Raid and reinstall windows or is it more complex?

No, actually. Less complex.

Ok great. I got that working but now I am getting an error when I try and accelerate. It says "An unknown error occurred while an operation was in progress. The operation could not be completed." This makes no sense. This happens every time I hit accelerate. Even after a reboot. I am using the latest intel drivers.

I would uninstall and reinstall the RST in Windows. Then try again.
