Keyboard problems with the ENTER key
- Rolling back windows to a known good state
- Re installing my keyboard in windows
- Checked in the BIOS to make sure all looks ok
- Checked for virus' problems and spywear
- Rebooting, removing the battery and leaving the laptop off for a while
- Vacuuming the keyboard incase there is any dust in there.
- Lightly shaking the laptop to see if there is something loose
I have tried all listed above but they have done nothing to make the enter key work.
An interesting point I noticed that while I was in the BIOS the enter key still DID NOT work, therefor rulling out a re-installation of Windows XP Pro.
The Keyboard must be at fault, does anyone have any more ideas or things to try?
If anyone has this problem also, please post here and call Dell.
I am using a Freeware program called Click N Type to give me the Enterkey (Carrige returns), this can be found here http://www.lakefolks.org/cnt/
If anyone has got a solution, please post here, it looks like this problem is a big one, I have seen many posts on here with the same problem but not read a useful solution yet. I will be calling Dell later on, if I get a solution I will post here.
Thanks, James

Restart the system and tap F12 at the Dell logo screen.
Highlight the diagnostics option and press enter.
Select the device as keyboard and run the test.
