Changing default laptop keyboard shortcuts
I have a dell studio 1555 laptop. As you may know it has some default keyboard shortcuts at F1-5 and F7-12. Although I find them useful, I no longer know how to use these keys for things like refreshing a web page (F5) or closing a window (alt+F4). Not the most pressing issue, maybe, but I still find it quite annoying, if anyone has any suggestions or I'm missing something, advice would be very appreciated. Thanks

Take a quick refresher course by searching Help for Keyboard Shortcuts. See if your KB has an F Lock key which toggles between functions--such as F5= either Open or Refresh. There are more key settings in Control Panel, Keyboard.

I just got a studio 1555 and am rather annoyed by the keyboard layout too... I seem to remember reading that some keyboard setting could be changed in the BIOS. I haven't tried it yet tho. I'm just guessing the setting would let you change the keys to default to f1 etc... and require you to hold function to use the brightness change keys and etc.. Maybe a dell tech here could clue us in better
