new hard drive installed not being recognized

hi guys   i just installed a fourth hard drive in my aurora to use for more storage,,, mostly music and games..

when i click on the computer icon i do not see the drive window thats shows how much room etc.is on the disc.or to see the "properties"of the new disc

i currently have three other discs in the pc now...port 0 is my data disc    port 1 and port 2 are my operating system disc (raid 1)

i put the new disc in the port 3 slot................it does show that is working in the device manager and the intel rapid storage technology screen

but not on the computer section......what do i need to do so that it shows up..in the box next to the data disc

1. Crucial tri-channel. In my opinion, not worth it and there are some limits on 1600 (check BOTH PDF manuals). I think 1333 is a "better fit" on x58 chipset and i7-920.

2. guitar amps?

1 .........wich pdfs should i read on the memory...

2.  a mesa markV combo amp..

1. Owners and Service. You will not likely see the speed increase in real-life. Why do you need more than 12gb?

2. So, you use the Aurora in audio recording and production?

Our machines are getting close to 3 years old. Start saving your money for the next PC (instead of spending on marginal upgrades). The only thing you might want to add still now is a SSD (if you don't RAID-0) Still say a good SSD is faster ... especially for OS and main programs drive. Also, a $30 USB 3.0 PCIe card.

But really, your machine should work for audio recording and gaming for like ... another couple of years.

1.tesla ......thanks for that advice for the memory..i was thinking to get rid of the stock nanya memory sticks and put something new in there

was looking at corsair vengence and or g-skill 12gb at 1600 but i think i will stick with 1333..i appreciate your advice greatly..

you have helped me out in the past,...,thanks.....can i still upgrade to something newer in 1333 or does it really matter?? i also was reading some of your 'wiki-like' threads...very interesting topics and very helpful!!.........wich pdfs should i read on the memory...

2.  to get off topic a little.... i been a mesa boogie player for a very long time and back in december i bought a mesa markV combo amp..

and last week i got a 2x12 recto cab to compliment the combo.......sounds awesome!!!!

so im on there pretty often,,,,,,my screen name on the board is 'mesa metal'

UltraSharp u2410 ... Excellent. Highly recommended. Still top-of-the-line.

The IPS-LED u2412m is also 16:10 and comes close but they cut some corners to bring the price down. I almost bought 2 more u2410 (to match) or just replace all with 3 u2412m ... never could decide. I have some links if interested in compare.

Just saw ... u2413 is out now. I think this is the "real" upgraded u2410. Current customer reviews are poor. We will have to wait for monitor review websites to get ahold of it. Look for heavy discounts on u2410 as they close-out production and inventory.

i probably dont need more than 12gb,,, was going to add more if the audio inteface with pro tools needed it...but i see most using their pcs with only 8gb of ram working just fine...   very soon i will be using the aurora for audio recording and production just for my own home use mostly.....i put the fourth drive in to dedicate to protools.....my other nonraid drive is for games,,,currently playing borderlands 2 and fallout 3.....lots of fun!!!!  the gtx 570 dosent even break a sweat!! at maxed out settings...grafix are awesome..thats why i want to get a 24'' monitor.....so im choosing wisely ....

im not sure i have room for the usb 3.0 card....i have a soundblaster card directly under the 570...but that would be great for the interface(focusrite w/protools 10)

funny you should mention about saving your money for another pc in the future instead of marginal upgrades......i often look on other websites to see what is being offered these days.......i can configure a pc on  origin or cyberpower or even another alienware for less than what i paid for this unit....most of my money on this unit was for warranty usa support.....and im pretty sure this one will last for awhile.....my dell dimension 4500 lasted for 11 years before i got this one and is still working fine  but is so slow i can make dinner before i can log into my email...LOL!!

We have the same taste in games (open-world FPS with RPG elements and quests). I finished Fallout-3 a while back and just finished Fallout-New Vegas. Might get some DLC for it next. I got Rage and Borderlands-1 because they were way-cheap on Steam. Stalker is good too. I think I like (finished) FarCry2 more than FarCry3 but I just got it.

I thought SB X-Fi was single slot.

Ya, these i7-9xx x58 based are gonna last us a long time (even as Primary box). If eventually not primary machines ... in a slightly less demanding role.

i do like FPS games as well as racing games too.and flight sims..my buddy gave me fallout 3 and is not bad for a 5year old game,,,guess ill have to tryout new vegas,,,,,borderlands 1 was a lot of fun but BL2 is soo much better graphics wise..,,,hear good things for far cry too

the SB X-FI is a single slot so i have to check where the 3.0 usb will go,,,,however i was looking at an asus PA248Q and VG248QE monitor and they have 3.0 usb built in to the side of the monitor,,,,,both are ips screens and have good refresh rate......so now it is a toss up for the dell or asus...

1. The last free slot.

2. Ya, so does the u2413. Not familar with the these monitors, but what you usually get inside the monitor is a USB Hub. It still needs a matching type/speed USB port on the computer (to be used at full speed).
