End of Life for Dell Devices
Is there a place that I can get a list of devices by model number and when their end of life date is? I am trying to update our inventory with this information. I chatted with Dell Support but they just brought me to the warranty page, which is not the information that I am looking for. I just want to know when devices are no longer supported. Is this information posted somewhere"?

Hi Nick,
Thank you for reaching out to us. Are you looking for this information on any specific product like Servers, Desktops, laptops?
However Dell will not have this information in advance until and unless the specif model is being stopped manufacturing when the next model is released.
Do reach out to us if you have any query.

30 years are endless is of EOL
I guess you mean dell direct supports ends right ?
first define EOL
lots of things can end life.
w10 ends support, as w7 just did, MS ended that.
and device, there are like 10,000 usb devices with no support. at all. even more printers. (scanners too)
do you know what NRE is,? the initial investment in design and tooling $ , gee anything. really.
well if you have brisk sales of 1 product why would anyone ever end support like that. even if made for 10 years straight. be nuts. no?
why not make a list of what you have and ask, that based on reality of what you have.
seems like vastly more easy way to see that, but there is no crystal ball. at any OEM or non.
the word support has vast levels
hardware
software,
drivers.
parts.
upgrades,
and more, even yacking here is support.
even 3rd party support, endless, www.

Sorry I wasn't clear.
I am looking for more hardware end of life. Example: We have some Dell OptiPlex 3010's in our fleet. We know that they can be upgraded to Windows 10 and work just fine, but when do we tell our staff that those 3010's are no longer able to be used? Is there a suggested end of life for those devices? Another example, we also have very few OptiPlex 390's, which I know can't be upgraded to Windows 10, they currently have Windows 7 on them, so is it safe to say that when Windows 7 is EOL, that the computer is as well? I was just looking for model information for all Dell Desktops and Laptops and when their EOL are.
Don't know if that clears it up any more or not.

Thank you for your reply. We understand your concern.
There is nothing that can provide you the list that says it is end of life because Dell provides technical support and part replacement till the warranty is active and when the production of any particular model is being stooped, then we can consider as end of life system model from Dell.
If any upgrade needs to be done, you can only upgrade to what Dell has tested. Example : Dell has not tested Windows 10 on OptiPlex 390 so we don't recommend installing Windows 10.

5 year SDLC is standard. EOL EOS is never more than 5 years. 3010 and older models are NON UEFI class 2.3.1 models that work with 32 bit XP. There are also Spectre and Meltdown security issues that will never be fixed for these models. 3020 7020 9020 is the oldest models that I still recommend keeping.

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/13853/windows-lifecycle-fact-sheet
Extended support is not more than 10 years.
Ubuntu works fine on the models listed below down to 2006 GX620 as long as you have at LEAST 2 GIGS OF System Ram.
http://releases.ubuntu.com/18.04/
18.04.3 is good till 2023 and EOL in 2028
Current Models go from now to 2025
Models as old as the 2006 Optiplex GX620 will run Windows 10 but they are not supported.
Not supported does not mean not working just not supported.
Hardware Drivers for things like Audio and Video etc are legacy and windows 7 max version.
Models like the 9020 and newer are supported and have UEFI and Windows 10 Cab files.
https://www.dell.com/support/article/us/en/04/how13361/optiplex-9020-windows-10-driver-pack?lang=en
Old models from GX620 up to 9010 are models that support XP and are 32 bit.
All windows from now on will be 10 and 64 bit only. Both hardware and software will enforce this from INTEL and ATI and AMD and NVIDIA etc.
