Third Party (ViewSonic) Monitor Problem

I'm running a brand new Dell Dimension PC and am trying to use a ViewSonic flatscreen monitor. The computer runs perfectly well on any monitor but the ViewSonic, which, when reset by the Dell machine, stops functioning. Basically, the monitor acts like it is asleep when hooked into this Dell machine. I have not had this problem with an older Dell machine or with any other computer this monitor has run on. I have installed the necessary drivers. Is it possible that the driver is installed and simply not being used? Is there a way that I can check what monitor/video driver the computer is using to connect to the monitor? Thanks!

Make sure you check the refresh rate on the Monitor tab of the advanced properties button on the settings tab of the display properties. (Got all that?) Make sure it's set to 60Hz. I have a Viewsonic that used to work when it was set to other refresh rates, but now only works at 60Hz.
