are these Intel programs necessary?

Have XPS 12 and frequently run out of memory. Since Dell has its own Driver detect/download/ install utility, are these Intel programs needed [want to uninstall if not] Intel Rapid Start Technology Manager, Intel Rapid Storage Technology Manager, Intel Driver Update Utility, and Intel Control Center.

Nothing in your list is going to change the performance of your system much, but....

Rapid Start is optional and kind of useless. Basically if you have a system that uses a spinning hard drive but also has an SSD cache module, Rapid Start allows Windows hibernation to write to the SSD instead of the hard drive the way it normally would, so that your system enters and exits hibernation faster. If you don’t have a separate cache module because you have only a spinning drive (or only a full-size SSD) or don’t use hibernation, then you can’t even use it.

Rapid Storage is Intel’s SATA/NVMe storage driver. You need the driver, but not the full application. If you don’t want to do with a manual driver install, you can instead just install the whole thing and then tell it not to run in the system tray.

stanvk,

You do not necessarily need the Intel Driver Update Utility, and Intel Control Center installed.  Just stick with the drivers from the Dell website for your computer.

Any thoughts about the "rapid start" and "rapid storage"?
