G5 5000 PSU Update

Dell G5 5000

Dell G5 5000

I have a G5 5000 that I'm looking to upgrade.

I purchased it with an RTX 1660 Super and I saw from the online specifications that it supports up to a RTX 3070 which I would like to upgrade to. The problem is that the highest available PSU to purchase from Dell was only 500w, and as it turns out the 3070 requires as 650w PSU.

I'm having a hard time finding anything online that indicates whether or not I can update the PSU (looking at going to 850w) so any information on this matter would be greatly appreciated. Specifically a friend on mine has an extra Corsair RM850x that we'd like to try to use on it.

Re; the 3070 requires as 650w PSU

it is not really true.  that is Nvidia general overestimate.  In a prebuilt PC you do not need that much psu.  online psu calculator estimates for i9-10900k + RTX 3070

Load Wattage:460 W
Recommended PSU Wattage:510 W

@redxps630 That makes sense. Otherwise why else would they only offer up to 500w?

The only modifications I've made to my machine so far was replacing the 256gb NVME SSD with a 2 TB one, and swapping out the 2x8gb RAM with 2x16gb. Otherwise it's all the same factory parts.
