Dell Supportassist keeps coming up with installation failed. How can I fix this?

I have a Dell XPS 15 with i9 intel and Nvidia.

Thank you.

OllieD4,

Update the system bios to the latest offered. Reboot when done and reinstall SA as shown here.

I have a XPS 15 9500. I have followed the Dell Support Assist Installation issues video. This hasn't helped.

Hi OllieD4:

Could you please provide further details. Do you mean that SupportAssist reports a failure when it tries to install a specific update (e.g., like the failure I reported in Problem Updating To SupportAssist OS Recovery Tools v5.4.1.14594 where SupportAssist kept failing to install the latest SupportAssist OS Recovery Tools)? Or do you mean that you see an error message when SupportAssist tries to self-update to the latest v3.9.2.57?

It would also be helpful to know the operating system of your XPS 15 9500 (if Win 10 let us know the version and build - see the TechSmith article How to Check Windows 10 Build) and current version of SupportAssist. Go to Options (gear icon in top right corner) | About SupportAssist to find your SupportAssist version.

If you're having problems with the self-update to SupportAssist v3.9.2.57 please see my 01-Jul-2021 post in nunyadambiz's SupportAssist Crashes My Laptop When Updating. User nunyadambiz has not replied back but in cases like this it is sometimes necessary to perform a complete reinstall of SupportAssist and all its associated components as instruction in DELL-Chris-M's post SA Uninstall / Reinstall that is pinned at the top of this board.

Hi,

I have Windows 10 Home, Build: 19043.1083

SupportAssist kept freezing and crashing when launched. So it was uninstalled and re-installed.

However, every time it got to the end of the re-install it would say the installation has failed. I have followed the advice on the pinned thread as well as a Dell tech support youtube video on uninstalling and re-installing SupportAssist, but it's still not working.

Thank you for your help,
