Daisy Chain 2 x U2724D or is 1x U2724DE Hub required? Diagram included! *SOLVED*
Here is my situation. I want to purchase 2 U2724D's and have the following setup on my desk:
Monitor 2 Monitor 1 Laptop Desktop PC
Desktop PC (4070 video card):
- 1 DP from Desktop PC to Monitor 1 (DP in)
- 1 HDMI from Desktop PC to Monitor 2 (HDMI in)
Then I want the ability to place my laptop on my desk and attach it to one of the monitors as run a daisy chain from laptop to monitor 1 and monitor 2 (all independent screens) -without- having to unplug any cables from my desktop PC. thus:
- Laptop HDMI to HDMI in on Monitor 1
- Monitor 1 (DP out) to Monitor 2 (DP in)
Would this work? I am hesitant that it would based on the laptop inputting the video signal into the HDMI slot, but then needing the daisy chain to occur from the 2 monitors via DP?
I need to figure this out ASAP as I want to purchase these soon.
Thanks!!

Afraid to tell you that it won't work. In order for the laptop setup daisy chaining, you can not use laptop HDMI to monitor 1 HDMI in connection.
You need a plan B.

Chino is correct! The PC source video out port must be either USB-C, DP, or mDP.
* Go back to the top of this Monitors Forum
* Open, "FAQ Monitor"

What if I instead purchase 1x U2724D and 1x U2724DE (Hub) and do the following:

Yes, that should work using the Laptop Thunderbolt.
