FIPS disk in SCV3020

Good evening All,

Our SCv3020 has broken disk. It is 900GB 15000rpm. As we can not buy the non-FIPS 900GB 15K disk any more so we bought FIPS 900GB 15000rpm.

Can we move the FIPS disks to non-FIPS disk folder?

Hello,

You should be ok with that. If you put it in a non-FIPS disk folder then it just won't use it on the FIPS capable drive.

For non-FIPS drives I see a couple listed.

These are Service part numbers. You would need to contact Sales and ask for the Spare Part Department for a quote and purchase of one of these. They may also have others available you can check for.

You would need to call in to Sales to order drives with Compellent firmware and be sure to specify that when ordering drive.

Sam explains here - SCV 3020 HDD compatibility : https://dell.to/3N7m49P

@DELL-Charles R : We want to put FIPS drives in to the Assigned (non-FIPS drives). We don't need FIPS feature.

P/S: We contact our region Dell sales but their update is "non-FIPS 900GB 15000rpm is end of sales".

Compellent related APOS parts end officially 8/2024. This date was communicated befor COV19 and doesnt mean that all parts where available.

Hi Team,

It works. Just released the disks and re-assigned in to non-Fips disk folder.

Thank you for your reply.
