Logitech Unifying USB Receiver

I have about a 4 year old Inspiron 5547 running Windows 10 Home that has been great. At the time of purchase, I also got a Logitech M325 mouse and K360 keyboard that have always worked flawlessly...up until last week. Out of the blue, the USB receiver does not get recognized on the sole USB 2.0 port (on the left). It works on both the USB 3.0s (on the right) and on several other computers I have at home just as before. I've tried updating/deleting all my USB drivers and uninstalling/installing all the software that Logitech has to offer. The Inspiron USB 2.0 port works for all other devices such as flash drives, hard drives, cell phones, battery packs etc. No matter what I have tried, the laptop doesn't respond to the Logitech receiver at all. I don't get that satisfying sound of approval when plugged in. I even tried tighten the receiver's metal casing with pliers to make sure it was getting good contact. The reason I care so much is that I am using the Dell D3100 docking station which plugs into one of the USB 3.0 ports and if I plug the Logitech receiver in the other one, there is big hit to performance and the screens/computer has a bad lag. I guess I could use one of the open USB ports on the docking station itself but I'm not sure if that will have a performance issue as well because everything essentially still goes through the one docking station USB cord. Does anybody have any idea what is going on or have a possible solution? It's super confusing.

I use a Logitech with my Inspiron 15 and no problems.   I wonder if the status is corrupt for the Logitech.

Connect the Logitech to the USB2 port.  Then go to the Device Manager and display the USB section.  If there is an "unknown" device listed in the USB that is likely the Logitech.  Uninstall the Unknown device in the Device Manager.  Then disconnect the Logitech and reboot the PC.  After Windows has started, plug the Logitech USB into the USB2 port and see if Windows detects and reinstalls it.

Have you tried another wireless mouse with another receiver? Also have a look at the following Logitech support page.

I would add to firebird's post and suggest setting the Device Manage to view hidden devices.  Then see if any show up you might be able to uninstall.

The Logitech devices normally have software which may allow you to swap out a device in case the mouse or keyboard breaks.  I know it works with a system which came with the wireless devices so you might check if your Logitech device can do the same thing.

fireberd - I've tried that multiple times and just did it again with no luck. The computer just doesn't acknowledge anything has been plugged into that port (only for the logitech usb receiver, everything else is fine)

JOcean - Yes I have. I have a logitech m510 with its own separate usb receiver and it acts the exact same way. The link is helpful and that is exactly why I can't use the receiver on the right side with the two USB 3.0 ports. That is where I plug my docking station in and experienced all those issues described when they are both plugged in. That is why the logitech receiver was on the left in the isolated USB 2.0 port and the docking station is in one of the right USB 3.0 ports.

Saltgrass - Yes I did that when I uninstalled all the existing drivers. This mouse comes up as "HID-compliant mouse". Yes Logitech has a "unifying software" that works exactly like that but since the computer doesn't recognize it, the software says there is no unifying receiver plugged into your computer and doesn't allow you to hit next to proceed with the setup. Works for the other USB ports.

Thank you for all your interest and responses. I'm just more flummoxed than anything at this point.

Unless there is a hardware problem in the PC, I would have to think the Logitech USB transceiver is the problem.  My 5577 Inspiron only has USB 3.0 ports and having the Logitech USB unit plugged into one of those does not cause any slowdowns or any other problem that you report with the Logitech plugged into a USB 3.0 port.

I recently did field testing on a new G7 gaming laptop and I used the Logitech (for the mouse only) on that new PC which only has USB 3.0 (and a Thunderbolt port) and again it worked without problems.  I also connected my USB 2.0 recording interface unit into one of the other USB 3.0 ports and it too did not cause any problems.

Have you tried going through the same troubleshooting process with the Dock disconnected. Since you have to load USB drivers for it also, maybe there is some conflict. Since you specify the USB 2.0 situation and even though other devices seem to work, have you reinstalled or updated your Chipset drivers? I have a Logitech m510 and K350 keyboard I use on a Windows 7 system. It may be the device is no longer compatible with recent Win 10 updates. Would you like me to check mine on one of my newer Dell systems if I can find one with a USB 2.0 port?
