Camera is blurry

Can someone help me fix the issue? My camera is so blurry. I tried so many ways with hard drive   But it didn't work out. I ended up running the hardware test on webcam and the result came out showing the failure with integrated webcam.

I have exactly the same issue with my Dell 7391 2 in 1. If you look closely at the lens you will see a flat ring under the front glass of the monitor which should normally be centred so that the lens is aligned with the centre hole of the ring. The picture below shows how this ring has shifted upwards, so that the bottom part of the lens if covered by the ring. This results in a circular fogging at the bottom of the image captured by the lens. I've contacted Dell as my PC is still under warranty, however they claim that I must have damaged my PC (which I dispute). Has anyone had any luck in getting Dell to fix this under warranty?

Was there any liquid spillage or moisture formed on the webcam area or the bezel?

Please clean the bezel and on the webcam with a soft cloth. Ensure there is no dust or smudges on it.

Check the webcam with skype app and the camera app within Win8.1

If the system is under warranty, then contact us via Twitter - @dellcares for faster communication. If there is no warranty, then we can help with a paid service call if required.

I had to be persistent with the Dell Support person, but they eventually fixed it under warranty.  They initially logged into my computer and could see that it was blurry, they then tried to update the drivers and BIOS, then finally said I needed to send it in.

I do have to say that about a month after getting it back, the issue returned and I had to send it in again.  They currently have it.  I am concerned that if it happens again out of warranty that they might not fix it.

I too could see that something was blocking the camera, just like your picture.

I would ask the support person for proof that you damaged it or ask to talk with a supervisor.

Good luck.

I have a G5 5590 that recently went out of warranty.  I always assumed that DELL webcams were not great but then someone pointed out to me that there's something wrong with the camera--a pre-existing hardware issue.

The issue is that the picture/video is blurry and very grainy, even in bright natural light.  When you look closely, the live display is not crisp at all:

Could DELL Support please assist me? The issue is pre-existing and it should be addressed.

Tried contacting through private message , but getting only vague reply or multiple questions and no solution. Initial communication they ask for the contact details ,service tag etc. then that person disappears... A new guy came and start asking again same questions . Now no news from him also    !!!!WIN_20200704_10_31_28_Pro.jpgthis is not due to the light even in day light the camera showing grains and grains is more on the bottom side of the picture comparing to the top site

I was asked to contact Dell-Cares via Social Media but that wasn't helpful.  I initially got some feedback via automated response and then none.  The camera on G5 laptops are really bad, especially in low light.  I need help--not an answering machine.

I have the same exact issue. After seeing your post I checked closely the lens and it looks the same as the picture you posted.

Exact same issue here on my wife's work laptop that's needed daily, so sending it away and making it unavailable for more than a single day is impractical as she uses it every single day during this COVID lockdown/work from home time. And the lockdown for her/her company appears to be indefinite in duration... And that means she needs the currently terrible camera every day as well. Haven't yet attempted the bezel squeeze for fear of causing damage but will do so today. Don't see the displaced ring in the lens here, thankfully.

Dell's response (or lack thereof) to what seems to be a very common problem with their hardware is very telling. This lack of accountability and responsibility for poor quality has also become all to common these days. After decades supporting Dell with our dollars, we won't be purchasing anything further from them... Shame. Used to be big fans.

IF anyone other than a script reading minion trained to avoid solving problems and inappropriately blaming the customer unless it involves no investment/integrity from the mfg reads this; you must understand that, especially in these times support is just as important as the hardware you sell. Your reputation is going in the toilet because that's not happening. Dell support used to be among the best, eclipsed only by Apple. Now... well, clearly I don't have to tell you as it appears to be by design. Unhappy customers do not become return customers. Good luck with that.

Update: Lens squeeze did nothing to resolve the blurriness.

we're getting similar on Dell 5290 tablet but for our case, it is very slow and showing green alien effect on the front facing camera.

Sent to Dell repair and said they'd replaced the camera but when we received it still has the same problem

Anyone having the same problem?

Will be sending back for warranty repair and see how's Dell technician are doing this time

I have exactly the same issue with the 7391 - only 2 months old. the quality was good but started to get blurry from the bottom - now very similar to your photo. i hope Dell will help to resolve the issue as i have a lot of students internationally as well as here at Princeton that now depend on the webcam and Zoom.
