viewuser password for VDP Appliance

I am trying to add VDP 6.1.4 to DPA 6.3 and it is giving an error "Collector "Agent Host" on port 3741 returned an error processing command: unable to connect to server "VDP hostname".

I have checked the connectivity and they all look fine. I suspect the viewuser password is incorrect. It is not accepting the password of the appliance. Any Idea what is the password for 'viewuser'

Gautam,

That is good but you need to run the changepasswords command and reset the viewuser password again. When you alter it with in the MCDB it does not make all the necessary changes to the Avamar authentication system. Then you can set up credentials in DPA for the new password.

Gautam,

There are several things that can cause this. Finish the discovery of the VDP even with the connection error. Once you have done that Run the jobmonitor data collection in debug using the following procedure:

Go to Inventory>Object Library>Applications>(select the application server in question)

In the popup box, click on the Data Collection tab, and select the jobmonitor request. Right Click on the Run button and select Run in Debug.

Click close on the popup box.

Click the history button, and select the request history you just ran (it should be the top one).

In the bottom pane, click the download link on the right side, and save the zip file.

Once that is done best course is to open a Service Request with support and provide that zip file. We will be able to determine whey it failed to connect and assist you with this issue.

I got it fixed by resetting the password for 'viewuser' using the following article.
