m18 R1, screen turns off, then immediately turns off
Alienware m18 R1 AMD
Over the course of the last two days this issue has occurred twice. I open my laptop and my screen turns on long enough for me to see the background, then it goes black. Not like I'm looking at a black picture, but off. I can see the camera light blinking for the Windows Hello login and then it turns out as if the login is successful (I obviously can't verify that). My keyboard is still responsive, but the only way I have found to get the screen back on is to do a hard power down on the machine (holding the power button for 5 seconds) and then turning it back on. Clearly this is not ideal.
Has anyone else run into a similar issue? I have seen some similar issues when via my google-fu, but they were all several years old and didn't show solid resolutions.

If you're facing issues with the screen turning off on your Alienware m18 R1 AMD laptop, here are some steps you can try to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the problem:
Check Power Settings:
Update Graphics Drivers:
Windows Update:
Disable Fast Startup:
Check Event Viewer:
Update BIOS/UEFI:
Check for Overheating:
External Monitor:
Run System File Checker (SFC):
sfc /scannow
to check for and repair corrupted system files.Check for Malware:
Restore to a Previous State:
If the issue persists after trying these steps, and especially if your laptop is still under warranty, it would be advisable to contact Alienware/Dell support for further assistance. They may be able to provide specific guidance based on your laptop model and warranty status.

I have the exact same issue, however instead of cold-booting, I close my screen all the way then open it and it will finally recognize me...lol. Sometimes it takes more than one try but at least I do not have to reboot it. Maybe it would be worth it just to abandon the face-recognition feature. I think it all comes down to the system not recognizing my face every time. I noticed the other day I was wearing a hat. It finally let me in when I took the hat off. I do have the Alienware m18 R1 AMD to.

@Shytigercp this is what I’ve found to help. You have to roll the AMD drivers backwards. I bought mine a week ago and when I updated the drivers through adrenaline, I no longer had access to my screen and had to use a 2nd monitor to accomplish anything. Now it works great again.

I've had this very same issue. It didn't do it until I downloaded AMD adrenaline when I was setting up my computer. I did a fresh clean install of the entire computer to fix the issue but now I'm.not sure of I should download amd adrenaline again.

@Halstedmichael do you still have adrenaline though? I deleted my entire computer to where everything even the wifi drivers got deleted. I re-download everything but now I'm not sure if I should download adrenaline again.

@Halstedmichael and if you do have adrenaline is it working properly? I'm scared to download it again to be honest.

@Iamlegend317 sorry for the late reply. I solved my issue and posted a Reddit thread for it.
