BIOS A07-Alienware Area-51

I tested  how long it takes for the Windows to load after updating to BIOS A07 without connecting any external devices.

I did not notice a big difference though slightly faster?

It takes about aprox 43.4 second just to pass Dell BIOS screen. And from there it takes another 38.2 second to load to windows.

I was wondering how long does it take for others to boot to windows?

Before/After updating?

Thanks!

My rebooting times are longer: 3 min 19 sec to clear the BIOS screen and then 1 min 22 sec to finish Win 7 64bit load.

There are two things to consider: Alienware Application (ver 1.0.0.16, A01) and Command Center Software (2.5.45.0, A06). The Alienware stuff effects the BIOS startup.

I also have 7 USB peripherals attached during reboot - that will slow things down, as well. Some folks think this is caused by Windows 7 and not the BIOS.

So, from my observation, the combination of Area 51 System BIOS (A07), Alienware App/ComCtr BIOS (A01, A06) and USB peripherals result in a lengthy reboot process.

I'm sure you can go in to the BIOS and tweak POST and other startup routines, but since everything seems to be working OK, I just plan for a 5 minute break when I have to reboot.

I just installed the A07.

Bios Boot Time: 1.17.20min.

Windows Boot time after Bios: 20.5sec.

Shutdown Time: .18sec.

No change for me going from A03 to A07.
