Alienware X51-R2, Audio, Windows 10

Hi there,

I know I am not the one having this problem after I upgraded my Alienware to Win 10. Since then, I couldn't find any solution to the Alienware audio problem. It really doesn't work even I followed other's instruction but to no avail. Can you help me with this?

Hi Chris,

Thank you for your help. I already found the solution that my maxx audio pro and equalizer has come back to life. Everything now is working good.

I just installed this Windows 8.1 64 bit  Realtek ALC3861-CG driver into Windows 10.

* Download/install the chipset drivers under Windows 10
* Do them one at a time, restart the system when finished after each one
* Download/install the audio driver under Windows 10
* Restart the system when finished
* Retest audio

You can try Chris' suggestion and use Dell supplied drivers. Hopefully, that will work.

But if not, try this using Microsoft supplied drivers. Also, you might mention exactly what problem you are having with the audio. It might not be drivers in the first-place.

Try uninstalling anything related to Realtek or Dell Audio.

Delete Audio devices from Device Manager and then finally reboot

Windows should re-detect audio device and load proper basic audio driver from online Windows Update.

Config and Test speakers from (real) Control Panel/ Sound.

Thank you for your answer.

Alienware X51 R2, after I upgraded from win 8 to win 10, alienware audio that is max audio so to speak, is not completely working. The icon is there, I can open it but I can not use its features like max audio control itself and the equalizer and other stuff.

I already tried Chris-M but there was no audio downloadable drivers or whatsoever related to audio.

Thanks, I hope you can assist me with this.

Why do you have two Forum accounts (ensan & ensanjpn) ?

* Go here
* Click "High Definition Audio Codecs (Software)"
* Check "I accept to the above"
* Click Next
* Look to the right of "64bits Vista, Windows7, Windows8, Windows8.1, Windows10 Driver only (Executable file)"
* Click the Global link
* The file will want to download. Tell it where to save the file so you can find it
* Run the file. Follow the instructions and restart the system when done. Re-test the audio when done

Hi Chris,

I followed some advice to install the older driver back but still the result was the same. So I decided to re-install the driver you have recommended to me. Unfortunately, I now lost everything including the Alienware audio icon. I could no longer see it.

Please help me thank you.

I am stumped. I think you need to post the issue on the Desktop Audio Forum board and see if those Windows 10 users can offer some insight. The fact that the audio was working on the prior operating system means the hardware is ok. This is strictly a Windows 10 driver issue.
