U2711, weird shadow on the right side

Just noticed a weird shadow happening on the right side of the monitor happening when there is a solid colored background there. When it is white, you can't see it but any solid colored background between white and black its there.

This is what i mean.

Hi stylsh,

You can run a monitor self test to see if it is an issue with monitor. The self-test feature of the Dell U2410 monitor allows you to check whether your monitor is functioning properly. If the monitor and computer are properly connected, but the monitor screen remains dark, you need to run the self-test feature.

Note: Self-test feature check is not available for Composite and Component video modes.

You can follow the steps below:

  • Turn off both the computer and the monitor.
  • Unplug the video cable from the back of the computer.
  • Turn on the monitor.

A floating message box appears on screen with a black background, if the monitor is working correctly but cannot sense a video signal. While the monitor is in the self-test mode, the power LED remains blue. Also, based on the selected input, one of the dialogs shown below will continuously scroll through the screen.

  • This box also appears during normal system operation, if the video cable becomes disconnected or damaged.
  • Turn off your monitor and reconnect the video cable; then, turn on both your computer and the monitor.

If the issue still persists, you can perform a factory reset of the monitor by following the steps below:

Use the buttons on the front of the monitor to adjust the image settings. 1~5 are capacitive touch sensor keys, activated by placing the finger on the Blue LED button.

Touch the 'Menu' button (Option 4) to launch the OSD menu and display the main menu
Touch the   or   button to move between the setting options. As you move from one icon to another, the option name is highlighted.
Touch the    button once to activate the highlighted option.

Touch the   or   button to select the desired parameter.
Touch the    button to enter the slide bar and then use the   &   buttons, according to the indicators on the menu, to make your changes.
Touch the    button to return to the main menu or    to exit the OSD menu.

Navigate to Other settings -- > select Facory Reset -- > Restart the monitor.

Please reply with the findings.

Unfortuanately that didnt fix it.  Its not an area that is shadowed, there is a "line" that goes down the 3/4 of the way down the scree from the top as per the pictures.

stylish,

If the line is present in the Self-test feature check, the monitor is defective. We do not repair monitors. We exchange them while under warranty. Contact Dell Australia Technical Support and provide to them the service tag number so they can check the warranty status.
