In this video, we'll cover the procedure for enabling the security key on the controller and creating secure virtual discs. After enabling the security key as well as importing the secure virtual discs in a perk nine raid controller, please note the controller does not allow import of configurations that result in more than 64 virtual discs for an enterprise level perk controller and 32 virtual discs for an entry level per controller to enable the security key for the controller and create a virtual disk, turn on the dell 13th generation power age system and press F two to go into the system set up page click device settings and then click rig controller and then click controller manager to enable the security key on a perk nine R controller, click controller manager, advanced controller management and then click enable security note local key management check box is selected by default, click, OK.
Now type the security key identifier and the pass phrase in the respective fields and then select I record the security settings for future reference. Next click enable security to enable security on the controller. Select, confirm when you are prompted by the message are you sure you want to enable security and then click. Yes. Now the enabled security key operation is complete. Click ok. And then click back twice to create a virtual disc, click configuration management and then click create virtual disc. Select the grade level as per your requirement from the select grade level option. Note, secure virtual discs support all raid levels. Select the secure virtual disc check box to secure the newly created virtual disc.
Next click select physical discs and select the required physical discs from the choose un configured physical discs option. The physical discs should be a self encrypted drive and now click apply. Change the allocation of the physical discs operation is complete. Click. OK. Now type the virtual disc in the virtual disc name field and then click create virtual disc select, confirm and then click. Yes. Now the virtual disc is created successfully. Click OK. And then click back twice to view the created virtual disc that is ready for importing self encrypted drive, click virtual disc management. Now to import the self encrypted drive virtual disc on a perk nine raid controller.
Turn on the other dell 13th generation power age system and press F two to go into the system set up page. You can insert the physical drive that is part of the secure virtual disc to 1/13 generation server. Irrespective of whether the server is powered on or off click device settings and then click raid controller go to the configuration management option and then click manage foreign configuration, then click preview foreign configuration. A message is displayed, read through the message and then click back twice to enable the security key on a perk nine raid controller and import the self encrypted drive virtual disk, click controller management and then click advanced controller management.
Next click enable security. The local key management check box is selected by default, click OK at this point type the same security key identifier and pass phrase from earlier in their respective fields. And then select I record the security key settings for future reference and then click enable security option, select, confirm and then click. Yes. At this point, the operation to enable security is complete. Click. OK? And then click back twice. Now, click configuration management. After that select manage forward configuration, click preview foreign configuration.
The list of preexisting virtual discs and self encrypted virtual discs are displayed now click import foreign configuration and click, confirm and click. Yes, click. OK. Now the operation to import a self encrypted drive virtual disc on a perk nine raid controller is complete. Now click back, click virtual disk management.
