XPS 15 9550 Network Adapter missing

Hi,

After investigating whether my 9550 had the swollen battery issue (it did, and a replacement's on the way), I put the bottom case of the laptop back on and I am having issues with the network adapter.

It's missing completely and not in the hidden devices option on the device manager nor showing up as an unknown device. I tried putting in a new network adapter but that didn't solve the issue, was wondering whether there were any other leads that I could check as to why there is a failure.

Edit: In the "other devices" section of device manager, there are multiple unknown devices but I can't update drivers since I am not attached to the wifi, do I need to find an ethernet adapter before I can do any further fixes?

Thank you!

I would very strongly discourage continuing to use that system until the replacement arrives, fyi.  As for your WiFi, if you changed the WiFi card model and Windows doesn't have built-in support for it, then yes you'll either need to use an alternate network adapter that Windows natively supports, or else use another PC to download the correct WiFi driver and put it onto a flash drive so you can install it on that PC.  But again, you should really stop using that system.

Will do, I'll report back when the replacement is installed. I have not changed the WiFi card model though so that shouldn't be the issue, and I couldn't even see the original network adapter.
