XPS 13 9365 - Is there any way to upgrade this to be Windows 11 compatible?

Hi - I am one of those unlucky folks who purchased a Dell XPS13 9365 who are unable to upgrade to Windows 11 and now have just 1 year of support with Win10 remaining. The processor isn't on the list of Win11 approved processors - but the rest of the machine is just fine.

I have:

XPS 13 - 9365 - Service Tag, i7-7Y75 CPU @ 1.30GHz 1.60 GHz, 8Gb RAM with 500Gb SSD.

I've just replaced the battery and have read that it is possible to force Windows 11 onto the machine and it will probably work - but without any guarantee of updates from Microsoft. I've just read a load of posts about this and been round several loops with MS PC Healthcheck and seem to arrive at a "purchase a Win11download from MS Store" page.

I have three questions I hope the community would help with before I decide what to do:

1)  My preference is to be planet friendly and upgrade this XPS laptop to be Windows 11 compatible:- so is there any way to upgrade my laptop's motherboard and processor (and anything else required) to something MS has accepted for Windows 11, or must this perfectly good machine be scrapped? Is there a new set if "insides" to fit into this case - and what are they? And if an upgrade is possible, how would the cost, longevity and performance weigh in against buying a new laptop?

2) If I force Windows 11 onto this machine without upgrading the motherboard & processor (and take the risk of limited or no updates), must I pay for an unsupported Windows 11 (when it's free to upgrade from 10 to 11 if you have the right hardware)? Am I missing a download page somewhere?

3) Do Dell offer trade in deals (in the UK) so that they recycle as much of this XPS as possible (to protect the environment and promote reuse), offering the consumer a discount to reflect this? Apple do - I've just traded in my iPhones for new models.

Thanks in advance for any advice!

1.  No, there's no way to upgrade this system to a CPU that is officially supported by Windows 11.

2.  So far, Microsoft hasn't enforced the CPU requirement for Windows 11, so you're clear until such a point as the do, when updates will cease. There is no charge for the Windows 11 upgrade.

3.  The system is worth $100-150 or so for you to sell privately, so you would receive less than half that as a trade-in -- in other words, as is the case with a car or other product, sell the system yourself and put the proceeds toward a new system.

It's a 7 year old system, and even with Apple products, good luck trading in something that old (for anything other than recycling).

@ejn63 Many thanks for the reply... It is a shame we can't upgrade this.... (We purchased it new from Dell in 2019 or 2020, so it's not ancient) I'll just keep it going as long as I can.

Do you know how do I get the Windows 11 free Upgrade (from 10)? Windows Update won't allow me to do so (it throws the incompatable messages I posted). If I go to Windows website, I get an option to buy Windows 11 - which seems to be a paid option. Apologies if I'm being an idiot - I just can't find it!

EDIT:UPDATE: I've found a page on MS which allows you to download W11 ( https://www.microsoft.com/software-download/windows11 )... but for anyone else in a similar position to me, note that the first option on the page (Windows Installation Assistant) still doesn't allow you to upgrade uncompatable systems to W11 - it refers you back to PC Health Check App - so you can't proceed.

It seems the other two options to download W11 (Installation Media and Disc Image) are the only way to do this.

Your XPS 13 9365 2-in-1 was purchased 5 years/1 month/29 days ago on July 2, 2019 with a 1 year warranty. We can see from the XPS 13 9365 2-in-1 Drivers & Downloads page =

Use Rufus to bypass the Windows 11 requirement or install Linux Mint.

On Rufus, you can create a Windows 11 bootable USB that bypasses the TPM 2.0, Secure Boot, and memory requirements on unsupported hardware.

I prefer the XFCE edition of Linux Mint
