Dell RTX 3070 Thermal Pad Thickness
XPS 8940
As title says, just wondering if anyone has any information on what thickness was used for the GPU thermal pads. Had the system since new and figure it's been a few years and though I'd do a complete service on it. Would like to order the correct items instead of taking the card apart a couple times.

Just removed the backplate on one, there are different thickness of short strip pads being used on different area around the chipset. Soft gel pads can be pressed to shape, so, a little thicker pads can be used.
Guesstimate thickness between 3/4 mm and 2 mm pads will be needed. Don't know what brand did MSI use but Laird brand is used by Dell for thermal pads.

@Chino de Oro Confirmed pad thickness. About 1mm for the pink pads and 2mm for the gray pads.

The information about the specific thickness of GPU thermal pads used in a graphics card is typically not publicly disclosed by manufacturers. GPU manufacturers often consider this type of detail as part of their proprietary design.
If you're looking to replace thermal pads during a service on your graphics card, it's recommended to either contact the manufacturer's customer support directly or consult the card's official technical documentation. Manufacturers may provide specifications or guidelines for service and maintenance in the product documentation or on their official website.
Alternatively, you can also check online forums or communities where users discuss hardware modifications and share their experiences. Some enthusiasts may have documented their GPU disassembly and maintenance processes, including details about thermal pad replacements for specific models.

@JamieLinux Yeah, I have a caliper. I was just hoping to get the sizes without having to open it a couple times. I know it isn't hard to do, and planned on doing it this weekend if I couldn't find the information, but figured it didn't hurt to ask first since the worst that could happen is I end up opening the card and measuring.

@air companion I tried a search but it seems that there's a range from 0.5mm all the way up to 2.0mm, and seems it depends if it's MSI or Gigabyte, etc. but not a whole lot on the Dell variant. Maybe I'm wrong on the variations? I'll try Dell support and see what I can turn up. If not, I'll just bust out my caliper when I planned on opening it anyways. I was just hoping to find the information first is all. Thank you.
