How to upload file to VXRail manager and execute script/ What if PO file is not backed up

Can anyone suggest or clarify me?

[CONDITION]

Created procedure docs for node 4 replacement of VXrail60 from Solve Desktop

(VXRail Manager3.5).

[QUESTION]

1) If the PO file is not backed up as mentioned in Task 1 step 3(Page 10) before the faulted node is replaced

Will we lose all the previous setting? What is PO file meant for?

Will the node work with out PO file? What could be next action?

2) After the node is replaced there is an step (Task 9 step 3 Page 28)  which says

"Upload the "update_vxrail_mgr_db.sh" to the VxRail Manager. And execute the script"

Can anyone elaborate the exact steps to be performed with example?

Hi,

Question 1:

The PO file has been in existence since VSPEX BLUE 1.0. On all code versions prior to VxRail v3.5, the PO.CXML file was ONLY on node 1 of the appliance. Since the release of v3.5, the PO.CXML file is now located on ALL nodes in the applaince. The node/Appliance will work without the PO.CXML file, however if it is there on the original node being replaced, you want to make sure to capture it and copy onto the new replacement node.

Question 2:

We'll submit a procedure bug to add additional clarification to the procedure. Using a tool such as PuTTy or PSCP, you would connect to the VxRail Manager VM, log in and then copy the file to the /tmp folder. Set it to be executable (chmod +x) then run the script:  "./tmp/update_vxrail_mgr_db.sh"

If you need additional clarification or assistance, please follow approved support procedures. Open an SR with VxRail Remote Support and they will be happy to help out. These forums are not support channels.

Hope this helps.

Thanks,

Gary
