Misconfigured storage under VPLEX

Hello all,

i´ve a VPLEX Metro cluster. Under both clusters are VNX5200. Now, after implementing VPLEX and provision first storage via VPLEX i´ve seen, that the storage on VNX is misconfigured. On each cluster there are running the ESX-Hosts. I´ve to rebuild the storagepool on both VNX. Is there an documentation that describe the way to do so? Maybe without destroy the hole VPLEX-Implementation? Or can someone describe what i have to do to get the storage configuration reconfigured... I gues, the biggest problem would be the meta-volumes?!

Thanks a lot for our help.

My thoughts:

If you are rebuilding on the VNX with existing space (physical drives, new pool, etc) then you should be able to leverage virtual LUN migrations on the VNX to the exposed storage volumes and I believe that is supported. If you physically have to destroy the existing pools on the VNX's, then your other alternative might be to split DR1 volumes, fix that VNX, re-present and re-sync the DR1 volume, and then do the other side once it is completely synchronized. If they are using only local volumes and you have to rebuild the VNX, then you can use the opposite approach in terms of creating a DR1 volume across the wire to maintain host access (at a performance penalty perhaps is accessed remotely), fix your VNX, re-mirror, and then break the DR1 and present locally to get back to the starting point.

For the meta-volumes and logging volumes, there are CLI commands that can be used to move/migrate those to new devices as needed as well. I believe some of those procedures are in the SolVe desktop as well.
