Having problem with Panda Antivirus Platinum

Lst nite (03/20/05) my nephew downloaded and intalled Panda Antivirus Platinum trial version on my computer and after that the computer is frozen. They tried to un-install it but they can't, then called me for help. However I can't do anything because it keeps giving me freezing screen. After I restarted, the comp will work for a few second then freeze again. I want to RESTORE my comp in hope that it can get rid of this problem, but since it's freeze, I can't do anything. ANybody in here ever intalled this software before? Do you have any problem and know how to solve it? Please let me know. Thanks
I am really appreciate any help.

Hello VietDallas,

You might have better luck by posting this question in the "Software-Other Software" board here at Dell, but I will give it a shot.

A couple of questions, first. Did your nephew uninstall your previous AV software before he attempted to install the Panda software? Are you able to boot into "Safe Mode"?

If your previous antivirus software is still installed on your machine, that could be the cause of the freeze up. Antivirus software is notorious for not playing nice" with other AV software.

If you can boot into "Safe Mode", (tap the F8 key when the Dell logo window shows) you may be able to uninstall your old AV software. If you can do so, it probably would be a good idea to uninstall the Panda software as well. Once both programs are uninstalled, you get reboot into normal mode.

In normal load, make sure your old AV software is in fact gone, that you can reinstall Panda.

Hope this helps. If not, I think that posting at the "Other Software", and maybe even the "Windows XP" board will give you the best chance of a viable solution.

Good luck.:smileyhappy:
