Has Centos7 support just been removed for DSU

Just tried to install srvadmin-all from https://linux.dell.com/repo/hardware/dsu/mirrors.cgi?osname=el7&basearch=x86_64&native=1 and its pointing to the empty repo https://linux.dell.com/repo/hardware/dsu/os_dependent/emptyrepo/

I cant see it listed in here either https://linux.dell.com/repo/hardware/dsu/os_dependent/

CentOS 7 is still supported until 2024‑06‑30 and is the basis for xenserver and xcp-ng so has broken the abilty to install srvadmin-all on the latest version of these hypervisors.

Ouch... Looks like you have some hope of using a previous version for now (or longer?):

https://linux.dell.com/repo/hardware/DSU_22.08.12/

os_dependent files for el7 are available for that version:

https://linux.dell.com/repo/hardware/DSU_22.08.12/os_dependent/RHEL7_64/srvadmin/

Thanks alot for the response. Managed to bodge the repo file to point here and now it installs and works as expected.

yum install dell-rbu-module
wget -q -O - http://linux.dell.com/repo/hardware/latest/bootstrap.cgi | bash

You need to go and edit /etc/yum.repos.d/dell-system-update.repo

For the [dell-system-update_independent] section hash out

#baseurl=https://linux.dell.com/repo/hardware/dsu/os_independent/
and add in this line instead that point at the last version that has RHEL7 support
baseurl=https://linux.dell.com/repo/hardware/DSU_22.08.12/os_independent/

For the [dell-system-update_dependent] section hash out

#mirrorlist=https://linux.dell.com/repo/hardware/dsu/mirrors.cgi?osname=el$releasever&basearch=$basearch&native=1
and add this line.
baseurl=https://linux.dell.com/repo/hardware/DSU_22.08.12/os_dependent/RHEL7_64/

yum install srvadmin-all --enablerepo=base

This worked for me.

Hello thanks for choosing Dell.

  1. Which OMSA version are you trying to install?
  2. Are you trying to install OMSA on CentOS 7 or other Linux flavors?

Hello,

I am trying to install OMSA on XCP-ng8.2 based on CentOS 7.

I tried :

yum install dell-rbu-module
wget -q -O - http://linux.dell.com/repo/hardware/latest/bootstrap.cgi | bash

You need to go and edit /etc/yum.repos.d/dell-system-update.repo

For the [dell-system-update_independent] section hash out

#baseurl=https://linux.dell.com/repo/hardware/dsu/os_independent/
and add in this line instead that point at the last version that has RHEL7 support
baseurl=https://linux.dell.com/repo/hardware/DSU_22.08.12/os_independent/

For the [dell-system-update_dependent] section hash out

#mirrorlist=https://linux.dell.com/repo/hardware/dsu/mirrors.cgi?osname=el$releasever&basearch=$basearch&native=...
and add this line.
baseurl=https://linux.dell.com/repo/hardware/DSU_22.08.12/os_dependent/RHEL7_64/

yum install srvadmin-all --enablerepo=base

No package srvadmin-all available.

Hello I do not see CentOS listed as a supported / validated Operating System for OMSA
I've checked the OMSA 8.2 documentation which I believe is the version the customer is trying to install, as well as the latest version which is 11.0.0.0
None of them lists CentOS as a validated OS

Available Installation Guide/Support Matrix in our Documentation portal for OMSA

Server Administrator Version 8.2 Installation Guide — Linux (https://dell.to/44zZXjt)
Dell OpenManage Version 11.0.0.0 Installation Guide — Linux

I tried that : https://forums.centos.org/viewtopic.php?t=48532

With this download :

https://www.dell.com/support/home/fr-fr/drivers/driversdetails?driverid=4m1gp&oscode=rhe70&productcode=poweredge-r740&dgc=SM&cid=243908&lid=spr7843940617&refid=sm_LITHIUM_spr7843940617&linkId=184942414

But here, I have dependencies errors :

Hello I’m afraid that was an old post and it’s an external link with undocumented instructions, so this does not fall under our scope.

I will have to reiterate that CentOS is not listed as a validated OS for OMSA based on our available documentation.

If you insist of getting someone to check further, at this point, I suggest you contact the regional support phoneline to open a case with the PowerEdge team.

Hello,

Is it possible to reactivate RHEL7 in repo.

CentOS 7 is based on RHEL7.

Thanks.

Hello, please confirm if you are getting the "cannot find a baseurl for repo: base/7x86_64" error when running the yum install dell-system-update command when you tried to use the latest DSU version DSU_23.07.10

I modify repo as :

wget -q -O - http://linux.dell.com/repo/hardware/DSU_22.08.12/bootstrap.cgi | bash
yum install srvadmin-idracadm srvadmin-storage-cli

And now I have error messages like :

srvadmin-storage = 11.0.0.0 for package: srvadmin-storage-cli-11.0.0.0-5268.el8.x86_64

Hello as informed previously. CentOS is not a supported / validated OS for OMSA

OMSA will soon reach EOL as well.

What you are doing is not an official method, I’m afraid.

We also ran in our lab and the testing clearly shows that the OS is not supported for CentOS 7.

@jeffsmith82 That worked for me too. I used it in an docker container on an Apple Silicon Mac. It took a bit of work to get the amd64 arch packages to run on arm64 arch, but I was able to run racadm commands from a Macbook, which was convenient.

Thank you for sharing your solution.
