Trouble connecting to monitor

Hello, I’m trying to set up a desktop monitor with my laptop. My job supplied both the laptop and the monitor.  The laptop is Latitude 3550. Monitor is P2422H.

The monitor only came with three cable: power cord, USB, and DP. The laptop doesn’t have DP… but the USB fits both the laptop and monitor. However, the monitor doesn’t have USB as an input source. It only has VGA, DP, HDMI, Auto.

I have done everything. Rebooted computer, turn power on/off, unplug power cords, etc. The only cable that works is USB monitor came with and it’s still the only input that doesn’t appear so idk. So I keep getting “no signal”.

Are these two incompatible? I’m not super tech savvy but I’ve spent an hour researching and can’t find a fix. It feels like I have to get a new cable, though I don’t understand if Dell P2422H is the problem or just simply the others not being correct.

Please help me out. Thanks so much.

You will need an HDMI cable for your setup.  Connecting your laptop HDMI port #3 (see picture below) to your monitor HDMI port #3 (see picture below).  A picture of HDMI cable is also below.

@Chino de Oro thank you so much. I had a feeling that would be the case but was so hoping I was missing something and could work with the cables I already had. Appreciate this.
