Can PPME be used to migrate LUNs from HP EVA 8400 to VMAX?
We are planning on moving all of our servers from HP EVA 8400 to VMAX. We have windows and RHEL in our environment. Planning to use PPME for these migrations, but i am unable to find if PPME supports this.

Hi! You need to complete an RPQ for this support. In the Support Matrix for PPME, you will find that only HP EVA 8000 and 8100 series are currently supported. To use Open Replicator for Symmetrix (ORS), then Symmetrix ORS would have to support the source array, as well as PowerPath. For host copy, only PowerPath needs to support it.
Hope this helps!

PowerPath Migration Enabler can migrate any lun under PowerPath control. In the case of the HP EVA the release notes for Windows 5.5 state:
PowerPath 5.5 supports EVA arrays running firmware VCS4.x
(ALUA mode). These arrays are managed under the hpxp class.
EVA arrays running the older firmware, VCS 3.x (active-passive
mode), have been deprecated in PowerPath 5.5. These devices are
managed under the hphsx class, which will not be installed with
PowerPath 5.5 (but which will be enabled on upgrades from
PowerPath 5.3 if the PowerPath 5.3 installation has that class
enabled).
However, I am not able to find similar info in the Linux Release notes. Check EMC's Elab Navigator if your versions of PowerPath support that HP array.

@Maliboo74, thanks for the reply. EVA 8400 runs XCS code. VCS is for 8000 series i guess.
@jespinoza1, Thank you...this was helpful...i will open a RPQ now...
