Oracle Dat Guard -- How to calculate RPO --
Team,
I’m looking for guidance on how to calculate the RPO for Oracle Data Guard when Redo transport mechanism is different than LGWR SYNC (RPO=0)
Thank you very much for your answer,
Agostino

You may use
ARCHIVE_LAG_TARGET parameter here. You can find the details here.

EMC has a BCSD tool for RPO calculation based on write I/Os on the LUNs in the consistency Group, I am not sure if Oracle has a similar tool for Data Guard RPO calculation.
The most common way customers deploy Oracle DataGuard is with a physical database and using Redo Apply. Essentially only the Redo Log entries are written across the interconnect and the Redo Log entries then used to apply the update on the remote copy. The RPO for DG will depend on the actual redo logs transferred, interconnect bandwidth, DG protection/performacne modes etc. For a production DB, you can check the 'archive log sequence' of Primary and Standby databases.
