Oracle Active Data Guard and/or EMC SRDF
I am working on a DR solution for an Oracle database. VMAX 10K is required as the storage platform. Oracle T4-4 Solaris servers are used.
Architecture must include one active database on primary location and a lookup database on the remote location.
What is the best solution
a) Oracle Active Data Guard or
b) SRDF or
c) a combination ?

Simonf1;
If you are looking for a Read Only copy then Oracle Active Guard will suffice. However, if you want a DR copy that can also be written to then SRDF would be the logical choice.

Simon,
FYI - I wrote a blogpost on the differences if you're interested: http://bartsjerps.wordpress.com/2011/09/28/dataguard-storage-replication/
Tells you a lot about the differences. Hope it helps.
