Upgrading Power Supply in Optiplex with a Dell PSU

You should be fine because the gpu only draws 40w MAX. and your psu is 200w.

I think you missed the part where the P600 is my existing setup, and I looking to upgrade.

Upgrade, meaning more than 40w, probably the full 75w from the PCI-E slot

I guess I am just curious if the 6+4 is the same, and I could leave the rest disconnected?

Again, I dont care about how it phyiscally fits/looks, just if I can connect the new PSU in a similar fashion

I can take/post additional photos if needed.

it is possible.  you are correct that there are conflicting user reports.  latest user positive report is

"I replaced the 0DK87P 240W PSU in my OptiPlex 5050 workstation with the much stronger 04FWF7 460W PSU.   it all works very well. The pinout of the 6-pin mainboard connector is compatible between DK87P and 4FWF7."

I was hoping it would be a fairly simply plug-n-play swap, nearly doubling my potential power, but I know Dell can do some strange compatibility things sometimes.

no they are not the same model.  one user positive evidence that H500EPM-00 Y7R0X works fine with RTX3060 in 7050 MT.

negative user evidences:

#1 I bought a Y7R0X 500w to replace the 240W PSU in Optiplex 7050. The initial PSU has two connectors (P1 6 pin, and P2 4 pin). Y7R0X has more connectors (P1 6 pin, P2 4 pin, P4 4 pin, P3 and P5 6 pin). I connect the P1 and P2 of Y7R0X  to where the initial P1 and P2 were connected to.

However, I am having issues. The computer could not turn on. The fans started and then stopped in a few seconds. I could unplug and replug several times, and then the fans could stay on. The power button kept flashing yellow. "

#2 7050MT "I bought a 5K7J8 500w Delta amd it fit well. I connected one of the four pin white, and the six pin white plugs. The PC will not come on. The power button blinks amber twice. I tried the other white 4 pin; same thing. I put the old PSU back in and it fires right up"

I read through that thread... where do you see that? All I saw was someone saying that it might not boot because one of the power extra power plugs might need to be plugged in

500w power supply is working
I managed to cram a full size 1050 Ti in there and my FPS have roughly tripled.

The power power supply Y7R0X and 5K7J8 only go to models that are 80 series and higher. They will not work with anything lower. I know because I have sold a ton on Ebay and we get returns from people trying to use them in machines that are below an 80 series. They will appear dead when they hook them up and we get them back and they are totally fine. Its the power supplies with the purple and gray wires that go to the new models.

looks like I'm one of those "buyers" ... I did my research and my original PSU 260W is a 80bronze, In terms of connectors, the new PSU 500W (P/N: Y7R0X) it's coming with the:

- P1: DELL ATX 6pin 

- P2: CPU 4pin

- P3: GPU 6pin

- P4: CPU 4pin

- P5: GPU 8pin

I was expecting to have the P4 and P3 disconnected as my my new GPU is a 8pin one. Now, I'm trying to find if I can jump start the new PSU to validate the power output.

For the moment, I have the amber light flashing in sequence 2-2

How did you manage to get hte PSU to work? I bought the Y7R0X (500W) for my Optiplex 5060 and all I got is the amber light blinking 2-2. So, I had to go back to the original 260W.
