SATA Cable for Dell Dimension 1100 Hard Drive

OP, you have an IDE drive as pictured.  What is the purpose of Molex to SATA power adapter for?  I think wrong cable has been purchased.  The cable can convert a Molex connector from power supply to SATA power connector of a SATA drive.  Obviously, that cable can not do anything for the IDE hard drive as pictured.

Read the title - it asked about SATA, not IDE.

I was supposed to ask for a SATA with a USB cable attached :) 

But, a SATA cable with usb connector can not be used for Dell Dimension 1100 Hard Drive in your picture.  Which hard drive do you want to access by connecting to USB port on a laptop?

Yes.  You may also want to return the other SATA cable because it can not be used with your IDE hard drive.
