Upgrade Dell Optiplex 390 DT

Hello! I have a question regarding my Dell Optiplex 390(DT)
I wanted to know if I can perform some upgrades on my machine.

My current configuration is:

Motherboard: 0M5DCD

Processor: i5-2400 3.10Ghz

RAM memory: 2x4 Gb ddr3 (totaling 8 Gb)

SSD: 480Gb

Power Supply: standard (250W)

A while ago I had tried to use the NVidia GT 710 on my machine, but after a while of use the computer had problems, and after researching a little, I saw that apparently the standard power supply cannot support it (since the box of GT 710 requires a power supply of at least 450w). What type of power supply would be recommended in this case?

And also looking at foreign forums I saw that it might be possible to upgrade the RAM + processor (I saw that the maximum capacity of the board is 16Gb ddr3 + i7-2600k 3.40Ghz, and it is possible to upgrade the RAM if you update the BIOS to A14 version).

Could anyone else tell me if this information is true? I don't see such information in Dell's own manuals, but at the same time it seems a bit strange that the motherboard supports "only" 8Gb.

You'll see the things you asked about are compatible in userbenchmark.  This has been asked about many times over the years.  The 390 successor, the 3010, is the same way.  Keep in mind Dell BIOS in the 390 does not have overclock.

As for the PSU, if he doesn't mind me tagging him in, @redxps630 will know if there's actually an aftermarket upgrade that will fit in the case.  Meanwhile...

The GT 710 is only 19w.  It shouldn't have given you any trouble unless it's on its way out.  Not sure what site you got the 450w PSU requirement from.

If you Google PSU requirements for the GT 710, you'll find that it says 300w, which is still inflated.  Some sites may even say 250w.  A 180w PSU can still run it.

Some mfrs. inflate PSU requirements as to make sure everything is covered.

Does the box give a higher watt for the 710?  Even if the card was 50w, your PSU can run it.

A 450w PSU is meant for cards over 75w requiring an additional 6-pin or 8-pin connection, which I know the GT 710 doesn't have.
