I assume "the computers HDD slot was not working " means the hard disk is bad. Do you have a BACK UP of it?

I think the root problem here is that the physical drive died and is no longer accessible? If so, and if you have no back-up (some back up programs can restore to 'unlike' hardware) you have lost everything on that drive. If it IS accessible, but just can't be booted from, well, you have to install Windows (of the same version possibly) that you had on the drive old drive before (if Windows 11, use that, but I doubt if you could put Windows 11 on if you had Windows 7 for instance as you don't have a license number on the motherboard for that?).

Get the Windows Media Creation tool (Google for it) and an ISO file for your OS version to install with it from Microsoft's site. Then install it to the SSD and it should be set in BIOS as the BOOT drive and then you'll need to add back onto that drive anything you had on the old drive by getting new copies.

Re: the computers HDD slot was not working

this is a relatively recent Dell model so a dead hdd is considered less likely than some very old model. OP may mean the sata port for hdd on motherboard is not detecting hdd?  Hdd does not show up in bios thus OP concludes sata port or slot not working.  Make sure bios> sata operation is set to be AHCI and not RAID. Save bios change.  Does hdd show up in bios then?  also make sure hdd has both power and data cable securely connected on both motherboard and device side.

@redxps630

It appears that this is an Optiplex model, they have i5 CPU's....

Probably should have posted in that forum? https://www.dell.com/community/en/topics/optiplex-desktops

Hopefully a moderator or RockStar can move it.
