Inspiron 7506 Keyboard bad design

Hello Dell forum,

This post is being typed on an Inspiron 7506 with a grey finish.
The keyboard is impossible to read in regular light. The keyboard is backlit. The characters on the keys are visible if the room is dark. But in regular office-level light or especially with daylight coming into the room as it does in my home office the backlighting is not visible so the characters on the keys cannot be seen.
If I cup my hand over a few of the keys I can see the characters via the backlighting but
when my hand is removed the characters are not legible. This makes typing very difficult.
This is a very bad design.
The only solution is to put keyboard character stickers on the keys.
Is this a problem for Inspiron 7506 users with other laptop finishes like, say, black?

Thanks.
