Missing Network Adapter/Ethernet Controller

Hi had to do a manual reinstall on my dimensions 2400.  Dell sent me what was installed on my computer (more than I wanted, but that's another story).  Anyway, the resource cd doesn't download the network adapter.  Am I missing a disk?  Can anyone tell what I need to get this reinstalled?

Ncalcamper,

The driver for the Integrated Broadcom 4401 NIC found on the Dimension 2400 motherboard is here:  http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/download.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=gen&releaseid=R64645&SystemID=DIM_PNT_P4_CEL_2400&servicetag=&os=WW1&osl=en&deviceid=3597&devlib=0&typecnt=0&vercnt=2&catid=-1&impid=-1&formatcnt=1&libid=5&fileid=84196

You could download this driver on another computer, copy it to a flash drive, plug the flash drive into your 2400, and install it from there.  It should be on your Resource CD also.

Many onboard devices require that the chipset driver be loaded first, followed by the video, network, audio, modem, etc. drivers.

Let us know how you fare.

Thanks Tony.  I'll check the cd again carefully and load in the order you advise.  Maybe this explains the bizarre way the cd loaded.

Well no luck.  The Resource CD is noting that the following drivers were found:

Control Driver (chipset)

Video Driver

Audio Driver

However, my device manager has a question mark for the following:

Ethernet Controller

Multimedia audio controller

Video Controller

Secondary problem, resource CD sees no modem driver and I can't get the driver I download from the internet for my Mortorola SB 4220 to work.  Ugh!

Hi Tony.  The link you provided worked!  I don't know why the resource cd didn't work as it was noting it was installed, but I've got the Internet back which is a huge step to getting my computer back online.  Thanks for your help.  NCC

Ncalcamper,

Good!  I've had weird things happen loading drivers.  It's probably on the resource CD, but takes some looking to find it.  Glad you're up and going.  Sorry about the delay getting back to you.  I've been out of town since last Thursday.

Thanks for posting back with the solution to your problem.  It helps everyone reading these posts.

Tony
