inspiron 1525 network adapter missing from device manager!!!

I have a inspiron 1525 running windows vista home basic. I reinstalled vista on my computer and when i did so the network adapter has gone missing. it is no where. so i cant get on the internet. I did not create a restore point before hand because i did not need anything on it. what can I do to get my network adapter back? should I try reinstalling again? the warranty is up so no one would help me unless I pay over the phone. what should I do to get my computer running again?

akcuneo127,

The Desktop/Notebook Utility needs to be installed first(if applicable), then the chipset drivers. If they are NOT installed first, then the rest of the drivers will fail to install.

Since the operating system was re-installed did you remember to go to drivers and downloads, enter your service tag(DO NOT POST SERVICE TAG here or your post will get deleted, since it contains your personal information), and install these drivers in this order.

:emotion-55: Hint :emotion-55: When downloading the drivers, make a folder for each drivers and name it with the device it belongs with to make it easier to install them in the proper order.

Desktop System Software or Notebook System Software(if applicable)
Chipset or SMBus driver
Processor Driver (if applicable)
Video
Audio (sound)
Input Drivers (keyboard/mouse)
Modem
Network Card

QuickSet(Laptop only)

 akcuneo127,

Vista 32-bit, correct?

Try reading...

How to by-pass the Dell Download Manager and use Internet Explorer to download the drivers, in your browser.

ckcuneo127,

Download and install these drivers in order.

Dell System Software and Intel Mobile Chipset <ADMIN NOTE: Broken link has been removed from this post by Dell> and the Ricoh R5C833 <ADMIN NOTE: Broken link has been removed from this post by Dell>

Then install these drivers, order not as important.

Marvell 88E80XX 10/100 Ethernet Controller

This should allow you to use the ethernet cable to connect to the internet. Attach the ethernet cable and then start the computer. You should be connected. Go to Drivers & Downloads and enter your service tag number.

Under network, it will tell you which network adapter you have installed(it may show up in device manager with a yellow exclaimination mark after the top three drivers are installed) and download and install the drivers. Please remember to download and install Dell QuickSet so you can turn the wireless card on/off.
