U2724DE, firmware M3T103, mouse lag

I recently updated my U2724DE firmware to M3T103. I use the monitor as a KVM between my laptop (Dell XPS 15) and a Dell desktop (can't remember the name, small form factor).

It was working fine, but since the update I get terrible mouse lag. The mouse is a logitech MX master 3 connected via a dongle plugged in to the monitor. This seems to mainly affect my laptop rather than the PC, but the PC has barely anything on it.

I've attempted to reapply the update, just in case there was some issue but when I do that I get an error:

2024-08-06 14:41:29.532 ( 181.347s)  ERR| Plugins Manager: error: Wrapper: Error: 0x228 SDK_AUTHENTICATION_FAIL The image provided is not signed. Therefore rejected.

Originally I applied the firmware via dell display manager, but to try and 're-flash' it I downloaded it from the Dell site (Dell_U2724DE_FWUpdate_M3T103_Windows.exe).

Can anyone tell me how I can:

1) Reapply the update without error.

2) Or possibly downgrade the firmware.

I'm currently stuck with a KVM that basically doesn't work.

Any help appreciated!

P.S. I think I've managed to find the old firmware M3T102, but am a bit reluctant to attempt applying it in case I end up in some weird state.

Would a factory reset also reset the firmware (I'm guessing not)?

I appreciate that docks are notorious for this sort of thing (including docks built in to monitors), and it's hard to debug, but is there at least a Dell representative out there who can explain why the firmware update is failing part way through with:

2024-08-06 14:41:29.532 ( 181.347s)  ERR| Plugins Manager: error: Wrapper: Error: 0x228 SDK_AUTHENTICATION_FAIL The image provided is not signed. Therefore rejected.

That would at least give me a fighting chance to reinstall/downgrade...

Forgot to say I attempted to downgrade to M3T102 and the install failed just over halfway through - presumably having done part of the job - with the same Error: 0x228 message..

Installing an older monitor firmware over newer firmware is not supported which is why the old firmware is not present on the U2724DE Drivers & Downloads page.

Open the U2724DE Menu- Others. If it states Firmware M3T103, then it installed successfully. Which is most likely why you get errors when trying to install M3T103 over itself.

A factory reset does not install the old firmware.

Test the Logitech USB-A dongle on all four of the U2724DE USB-A ports.

@DELL-Chris M Thanks Chris.

It does say M3T103 in the menu. I'm not sure that the error I'm getting suggests that the firmware can't be re-applied. It does start and gets about 60% through (including the screen flickering which suggests it's doing something), plus the error "The image provided is not signed" seems to suggest a signing issue? I've also read of others downgrading firmware (admittedly for other monitors).

It's possible it's some sort of interaction between my XPS15 and the dock part of the monitor, it's been a bit temperamental since I got it tbh. It seemed to go crazy after the firmware update, but it's settled down now. I've turned wifi off which I read somewhere else, no idea if that's what helped or not.

These sort of driver issues are so hard to diagnose unfortunately.

Spoke too soon - the mouse lag came back. I then plugged it into the USB nearer the front of the monitor and it seems to be working. Annoyingly I now seem to have keyboard lag (still plugged into the back).

The reason I wanted to 'reflash' the firmware update was because I'm not sure, but I think I may have interrupted the original firmware update and I have a feeling it might be "part" applied, but I'm not sure how I can tell.

Lesson is to not apply updated unless there's a real need I guess.

Seems that I got the same issue on U2724DE.
First it worked, but when I upgraded to M3T102 and this evening to M3T103 the mouse lags in Dota2. I got the feeling that the newer version works slightly better.
When I change the mouse for a same model Logitech G502 Hero behaviour is the same. Connecting directly to PC, both mice work fine.
