U2722DE, dual daisy chained, Asus UX430UAR, resolution issue

I have connected one laptop to two Dell U2722DE screens as suggested (USB-C output from laptop to Dell 1 USB-C port (video/data) and then the Dell 1 DP port out to Dell 2 DP port in).

The  laptop is an ASUS (UX430UAR) with integrated Intel UHD graphics 620 card.

I get outputs on both monitors. However, one Dell monitor offers the maximum resolution of 2560x1440 and the other monitor gets stuck at a maximal resolution of 2048x1080, lower than the desired monitor max of 2560x1440.

I would like to operate both monitors at the highest range (2560x1440). How to do this?

Changing settings in either Windows 10 display settings or Intel UHD graphics control panel do not help.

When I connect one monitor via USB-C and the other monitor via HDMI on my laptop, the issue is solved. Both monitors then appear in max resolution of 2560x1440. But this solution is less practical as I then need to use two ports instead of one. I would prefer the daisy chaining solution.

How to fix this resolution issue when doing daisy chaining?

Thanks for your help.

Regards, Stef.

ASUS came back to me and replied:

"Do notice this is al older generation USB 3.2 Gen 1 type C port which only provides simple display functionality with limited bandwidth.
Two 1440P monitors at 60HZ will use more bandwidth then provided which is the reason why the resolution of one monitor is lowered. In some cases this can be solved by setting the monitors to 1440p at 30Hz but this depends on the monitors as many monitors reserve the maximum required bandwidth regarding the Hz."

As a result, I will use my ASUS with two cables as this seems the only solution. I guess this item is hereby solved. Thanks.

Is the AC power adapter connected to the Laptop?

Is the Laptop lid closed?

Have you checked with Asus Forums to confirm that the Intel UHD 620 via USB-C port has the bandwidth needed for two daisy chained U2722DE 2560x1440?

@DELL-Chris M thanks for your response.

The AC power adapter is connected to the laptop. The laptop lid is not closed.

I will check on ASUS forums and look for similar cases. I will get back to you if I do or do not find anything.

All the best, Stef.
