E1713S, aspect ratio, image problem

Hi

I've just bought a Dell E1713S monitor, for use with an Lenovo ThinkPad X390 laptop running Windows 11. The graphics card is Intel(R) UHD Graphics 620. On Amazon, where I bought the monitor, it's listed as having HDMI ports, but in fact it doesn't have these, so I bought a HDMI/VGA converter cable to connect the monitor.

The problem I'm having is I can't get the aspect ratio on the monitor to work properly. I've tried adjusting the Resolution settings, and the only available option which will actually give an image filling the screen is 1920 x 1080, but the image is squeezed horizontally, and quite blurry.

I've tried installing the driver for the monitor, which made no difference. I also installed the Dell Display Manager app, but when I try to run it I get an error message saying the program requires a supported Dell monitor and connection and compatible display driver. I'm not sure if the fact that it doesn't detect these as being present might be the problem.

Can anyone help?

Thanks.
