XPS 9550 Battery Hazard

I have a 9550 15 which has apparently become a huge problem for owners of this model.  I talked to support today and now I have  to send to Dell depot to replace battery and hopefully replace any other damaged components.  I took a second chance on Dell with this laptop, as my company had many issues with Dell equipment over the years.  The reviews were good and features were excellent at the time.

The 10 to 13 day turn around that I was quoted by Dell Support I'm sure is pretty good but for a small business owner, 10 to 13 days without my laptop is a problem.  

Has anyone else sent one in? Did you actually get it back within 10 days? Did everything get fixed?

I am not sure about basis of the turnaround dates they are now giving you. I had opted for Premium Support. In the associated document it states that "typical" turn around time is 10 business days so they may be giving you that time. I sent mine in around the end of April (I can't remember the exact date, but I believe it was Friday April 28th). I received an e-mail Monday May 1st that "they had received the laptop and had started the repair process". I got it back on Tuesday the 2nd. Needless to say, I was very pleased. Be aware that they may remove some programs and install Dell Help and Support software if you do not have it installed or operational. I had killed that as it was giving me updates that were not applicable. So make a list of what you have on there in case they remove things.

By the way, I did receive an e-mail from Dell about a month ago about the battery issue indicating that they would replace it although they mention "during the warranty period". My warranty is up next month. It is my understanding that now they will replace it even if you are out of warranty.
