Which Dell Latitude Laptop's Support M.2 PCIe SSD's

We purchased a couple of Latitude E5570 that I thought had the newer PCIe SSD's only to find out they were 3G SATA drives instead.  I called into small business sales to try and get a clear answer on which current units have M.2 PCIe drives  but both people I talked to were more interested in hitting their sales quotas and blew me off.  If someone could please point me in the right direction that would be great.

Thanks you for pointing me in the right direction.  That is more than I had before.  I'll check out the 5580 and see what it has to offer.

I don’t think you’ll find a list specifically for this purpose, unfortunately. Your best bet might be to look at the SSD options available for a system of interest. SSD options labeled Class 40 and above are NVMe/PCIe, and Class 20 means SATA — and sometimes the SSD option itself specifically says SATA or PCIe/NVMe. Sometimes you can check the Specifications section of the system’s manual on support.dell.com, but even that doesn’t always state stuff like this anymore, sadly.

For what it’s worth, the replacement for the E5570 (namely the Latitude 5580) definitely supports NVMe, but it also dumps the underside docking connector in favor of a Thunderbolt 3 connector intended to be used with docks such as the WD15 or TB16 rather than the legacy E-Dock models. That’s why Dell dropped the “E” prefix on their Latitude model names.

Also note that if it's a consideration, the vast majority of the 5580s are Windows 10 only -- there is one model that comes with a sixth generation i3 CPU (Skylake), which will support Windows 7 -- most are 7th generation and therefore Windows 10 only.

I have no idea "which current units have M.2 PCIe drives", but there is a sticky at the top of the Laptop forum that will tell you by model name and number which ones can use M.2 PCIe drives, how many drives they will take, in what configurations and how many PCIe lanes.

As of yesterday I purchased an Inspiron 7000, model 7570.  I asked this question to the Dell live chat service prior to making my purchase to make sure the 7570 1st off came with an available M.2 slot to be able to add an SSD, and 2nd to confirm the interface protocol it supported which I was informed it supported both SATA 3 and NVMe/PCIe

So I can confirm the 7570 supports a NVMe SSD.  At least it better, because I just purchased a Samsung 960 EVO NVMe 500GB SSD to install in it.

Thanks again for all the help.  I only wish the dell reps I'd talked too had been half this helpful.
