Power Warning

Hi, I have just got a power warning asking me to change to a 90 W adapter. I am using a 65 W adapter. Why's that happen? Thank you

* I went to the bios and off the message of the power warning

1 more thing, after upgrading my CPU which i got from Ebay. I check my system and at the processor it says its Genuine Intel (R) instead of Genuine Intel(R) Core 2 Duo. What does this mean? I am a little worried. Any replies would kindly be appreciated.

Try a new adapter first.  If that does nothing, you'll have two choices:  see if a shop can repair the board ($150-200;  you need a true repair shop, not a parts-swapper like Geek Squad or Firedog), or if that's not possible, the board will need replacement.  That will cost between $300-600 depending on the model of the system.

The first problem is either a faulty adapter or a faulty system board (power jack).

For the second, what system do you have and what CPU did you install?

If its a power jack problem, how can i solve it? Does that mean the power supply has gone wrong?

It would help to know what laptop and BIOS version you are using.

I got a similar message with an XPS M1530 after I installed the BIOS revision A09. A message would appear at startup asking to switch to a 90W adapter. I was using the PA-10 90W adapter that came with the laptop.

After a call to support, they requested I reflash the BIOS with revision A09. It solved the problem for me.
