NVidea FX5200 or ATI 7500 (both 64mb) in i5150?

I have a radeon 9000 now, which is shot (anytime I try to run a 3D game or program everything is extremely jagged and extruded (sp?)

I am looking for a replacement and can only seem to find the cards listed in the topic title. Both are 64mb and both are the same price. Which one is the better card?

Thanks in advance for your opinions and advice

wat's up NBartomeli,

you probably have gotten the card because its been several months now. i hope that you got the nvidia cards. nvidia cards tend to be usually faster and higher quality than ait cards. if you look at benchmarks, you will find that nvidia consistently beats ati cards except in certain tests (ex. half-life FPS-->this game loves ati GPUs). have fun with your new card (if ya got it)!!!

The 7500 is a step backwards in performance. The 5200 is a lateral move.

Neither will improve video performance - if you need better video, you need a new system.

I have a desktop system for "hardcore" gaming / graphics. The video card in my i5150 is shot and won't display ANY 3D graphics for more than a few seconds, which is why I am in the market to replace it.

I can't seem to find the card I have now (ATI 9000) anywhere, so I guess I will be going with the Gforce 5200

Thanks for all of your opinions.

nbartomeli,

wait, can your laptop have any other graphics cards? if so, try to get a nvidia 5600/5700 or the ati radeon 9600/9700/9800. they might not be compatible with your hardware though. good luck

The nVidia 5200, ATI 9000, and XGI Volari are the only three options for the 5150/5160 chassis.
