Latitude touchpad button problems, need help

Running Windows 10,  this issue just popped up:

The left button suddenly is now acting as shortcut menu instead of click.  So now both left and right buttons are click shortcut.

Going into the touchpad interface,  the left button is clearly assigned as click and right is shortcut menu.

In addition,  reassigning the buttons via the interface has absolutely no effect.  No matter what you assign them,  they remain both shortcut menu.  Also, unclicking "Two finger click for shortcut menu" completely disables both buttons ??!!

I reverted the driver back to the previous version (2006) and the left button now correctly works as click,  but I lost the interface and the cursor is moving erratically.  Going back to the 2015 driver and I am back to the same problem,  left button is shortcut menu.

This is clearly a driver/software issue.  Can someone assist with this issue?
