Internal wireless adapter missing from device manager

I have an inspiron 8600 that had a built in wireless adapter (without bluetooth) Today it has gone missing from the device manager. It was there yesterday and working fine. I tried to hit the Fn-f2 because maybe it was turned off, but it never came back up. I plugged in the ac adapter in case it was some kind of power savings thing and rebooted. But still no wireless adapter. I rebooted and went into the bios "rev a13" to check the wireless settings. it had the radio listed as "on" and the control as "F2/application" Next i tried to use the windows system restore to go back to a time when i know it worked, that had no affect. Then I tried to go to the device manager and scan for hardware changes, still no wireless connection. I am still able to use the wired connection. there is nothing in the pmcia slot or on the usb that might be conflicting So i've run out of options now. any ideas on what the problem might be?

UPDATE: I checked the device manager and see an entry at 4am. I guess this means that the adapter's firmware is unable to function any longer?

I getting one of the same messages as you: Browser: The browser has forced an election on network \Device\NetBT_Tcpip_{xxxxxxx} because a master browser was stopped. Can you tell me what you did to fix this? I cannot browse to any website or get email with my desktop computer. Thanks
