Error message - Power surge on the USB port

I am getting Power surge on the USB port message.

It says,

Recommendation

Disconnect the device and click reset. If you click "close" the port will not work until you unplug it and restart your PC.

I do not have any device connected to USB so I cannot do resolve this problem. My laptop is only 2 months old.... It is Inspiron 13, 7000 series.

Please help me.....

There are things on your system connected to the USB beside what you have plugged in.  Things like webcams or touchpads/touchscreens.

Did the message give you any guidance as to which port or what device?  You can look at the properties for the USB hubs in Device Manager and if they have an Advanced tab there may be a reset button.. Perhaps just hit all of those you can find.

Look inside the USB connectors to see if any of the metal pins are out of place, and perhaps making contact with the metal on the opposite side of the connector.  If they are, it can cause a short that will lead to a "power surge" error.

If this is the case, then the mainboard or daughterboard on which the problem port is located will need to be replaced.
