Dell Inspiron 7667 screen glitch

My inspiron gaming 7667 laptop seems to be working great and was working great until a couple of hours ago when it went to sleep. I clicked on the mouse pad as i usually do to wake it from sleep. For the first time the whole screen was covered with some pixelled pattern and wouldnt respond to any clicks. Here is a picture of it. https://imgur.com/a/4wlXz

When i close the screen and switch it on again i see the same thing. Its only when i hold down the power button and completely switch it off and reboot that the computer is normal again. I am not sure wether this is a graphics issue or a display issue. I have no physical damage on this laptop. Any clues to what may be wrong?

Check your driver's version. I updated last night and had the same problem as OP. I reinstalled the older 21.20.16.4727,A03 version, and now the problem seems to have gone away.

Hi Diego Cuevas

1. Type msinfo32 onto [Cortana] search box, stroll down to BIOS Version / Date and verify the current BIOS on the system. According to your Dell Product Support page, the latest BIOS version is 1.2.0,1.2.0  (Inspiron 14 7000 and 15 7000) and listed as Urgent.  If the BIOS is a older version, I suggest following the instructions in link below to safety install the latest BIOS version.

I have the same issue with my new dell 7567 got it yesterday. I have done the BIST test and found no issues, only when waking up from sleeping/hibernating that the lines appear. This is stupid as this laptop is brand new and I cannot afford to send it back for repairs.....

Hi WhoTube

The problem appears to be from outdated Video drivers. You can either wait for windows to install the latest Intel video driver or install it from your Dell Product Support page. You have two Video drivers that can be installed / updated, see image below}:

Thanks Saltgrass

Had the same problem today after updating my graphics driver last night. I reinstalled the older version 21.20.16.4727,A03 and the problem seem to have gone away.
